Chroma Launches Its New Cost-effective High Power DC Electronic Loads – 63200E Series

Chroma launched the new generation high performance high power DC electronic load 63200A series in 2016 and received wide appreciation from customers. In order to serve more customers and to cover greater applications, Chroma followed up by launching the high cost-performance 63200E series with power rating from 2kW to 24kW.
The 63200E Series has a high power density (6kW @ 4U) to meet the green energy power testing requirements for solar energy, hydrogen, fuel cells, and electric vehicles related products.
In addition to the basic CC, CR, CP and CV modes, the 63200E Series can be used in the field of electric vehicle testing and also has a battery discharge mode to satisfy the discharge test requirements for car battery packs. The 63200E Series can record the Wh and Ah during battery discharge. For DC power and components in the electric vehicle such as a car charger, D / D converter, fuel cells, fuses, switches and wiring, etc., all models have functions that can correspond to the tests.

To comply with the high voltage car charger (600V or more) and the low voltage D/D convert (150V or less), the 63200E DC loads has three operating voltages available – 150V, 600V and 1200V. For voltage and current specifications, each model has 3 settings and 3 measurement ranges. The maximum current output of a single load is up to 2,000A, with power up to 24kW. A maximum power up to 240kW can be achieved by using multiple loads in parallel for greater power testing demands.
The 63200E DC load also has a pulse current loading function to test the fuses, switches and wiring by setting the repeat time to 1 in the existing dynamic loading mode.
The extremely bright VFD display adopted by the 63200E DC load allows users a clear view of test results.

Moreover, depending on the desired power level, the DC loads are packaged into either desktop or tower types. On the tower type, the operation panel tilts so that users can easily view and operate the unit whether sitting or standing. All models of the series are designed to a uniform width. Both desktop and tower type models can be mounted into a standard 41U rack enclosure in order to maximize space.

Fast Transients, Low Noise in
Chroma’s New Benchtop DC Power Supplies

Chroma’s newly launched 62000L Series programmable DC power supplies provide low ripple, low noise linear performance and a fast transient response in a lightweight, compact, and cost effective package.

As Chroma’s next generation of power supplies, the 62000L Series delivers pure and stable DC power as well as built-in features designed to meet the stringent requirements of next generation power electronics including automotive power electronics MCU/ECU, communication electronic parts, and semiconductor IC drivers.

Auto-ranging allows for freely adjusting the voltage and current. This feature eliminates the need to manually select the optimum range allowing all of the power to be available across all of the voltage and current settings.

Fast transient response makes the output voltage that changed due to load characteristics return to a stable supply of power in microsecond response speed. Take the 62010L-36-7 model for example, when the output current changes from half load to full load at the speed of 1A/?s, the voltage change of the actual output can return to 15mV within 30?s.

Low noise input power with pure quality protects the precision load or UUT from the interference of heavy noise. For example, the 62010L-36-7 output voltage noise is lower than 2mVp-p (20~20MHz) under the maximum rated current and maximum output power.

The auto sequencing programming function built into the 62000L Series allows the user to define and edit the output waveforms with 8 steps per cycle.

Conventional linear power supplies are cumbersome due to the frequency design and require more space for ventilation. Chroma simplified the design of the hardware architecture resulting in a better handling compact, lightweight design which is safer to stack.

The brand new 62000L Series programmable DC power supplies features an affordable price, high quality output specifications, practical functions, and standard USB and GPIB communication interfaces making this an excellent choice for testing small power and precision products.

Innovative PMM Narda EMC test instrument range now available from MDL

MDL Technologies range of EMC pre-compliance test instruments has been expanded with the company’s appointment as exclusive UK distributor for the complete range of EMC products from PMM.

9010 Fast EMI Receiver
The 9010F high-speed receiver is part of the EMC product range from PMM, which is now exclusively distributed in the UK by MDL.

The instruments will be particularly useful for lighting and white goods manufacturers but are suited to all EMC applications. They include field probes and receivers (pre-compliant and fully compliant) as well as new multi-standard single-path line impedance stabilisation networks (LISNs).

“PMM provides a range of quality EMC products using innovative technology, but at affordable prices,” said MDL managing director Mark Lucock. “They are ideal for small to medium-size manufacturers that need some pre-compliance EMC capability, but couldn’t afford to have it in-house until now.”

Products include the all-in-one EP-600 series electric field probes. These exceptionally small, optically coupled, broadband isotropic probes have wide frequency ranges from 5 kHz to 26.5 GHz and up to 66 dB dynamic range. With a spherical symmetrical layout, they are suitable for all EMC / EMI applications.

RAD pmmAlso available is the new 9010F high-speed receiver with advanced analogue to digital conversion, which uses FFT frequency spectrum analysis, cutting test times from hours to seconds. Fully compliant with the CISPR 16-1-1 standard, it is expandable up to 18 GHz with external modules.

Another innovative new product is the FR4003 field receiver, which is a replacement for traditional rod antennas. With an internal 30 MHz CISPR 16-1-1 fully compliant receiver, this can be connected to a PC in stand-alone mode or via a fibre optic link to a PMM receiver, but can still use a traditional coaxial cable if necessary.

Unlike other EMC equipment manufacturers who generally make a charge for their software, software is included free of charge with all PMM instruments, providing a cost effective solution to EMC testing.
